Hello, I’m Natalia Naletova!

I am an artist and researcher whose work explores transformation, identity, memory, and the language of textiles. My practice sits at the intersection of visual art, material studies, and somatic awareness. I create tactile, layered pieces using textiles, collage, assemblage, and digital tools. For me, my works are emotional maps that connect personal and collective experiences.

I am drawn to slow, intuitive methods combined with deep conceptual meaning. I find inspiration in textile traditions, everyday objects, and gestures of care, repair, and presence. Fabric is both my medium and metaphor, a carrier of stories, trauma, and invisible threads linking the body to the world.

I hold degrees in Oriental and Cultural Studies and have over 15 years of experience working in fashion and textiles as a designer, stylist, and educator. My passion for sustainable fashion led me to create a headwear brand and “The First Self-Service Atelier” in Kaliningrad, where I hosted over 150 events and workshops focused on customization, upcycling, and exploring identity through clothing.

One of my projects, “One Year Without Buying Clothes, ” was a performative sustainability experiment shared widely in media and social platforms. This project grew into “The School of Eco-Stylists, ” a broader platform for education and activism around fashion’s social and ecological impact. My work has been recognized by juries, and the Berlin School of Social Innovation acknowledged my contributions to sustainable textiles.

Beyond visual work, I write, research, and facilitate transformative processes. I am currently editing my book, Textile as Language: Fabric, Body, and Memory, aiming to offer accessible insights into how we can rethink our relationship with clothing.

In recent years, I have expanded my practice to include 3D design, AI, and coaching/art therapy methodologies, deepening my exploration of how material and image can reconstruct experience. Since 2025, I have participated in group exhibitions in Israel, the Czech Republic, Argentina, Greece, Turkey, and online platforms, including urban interventions and international collage festivals.

My works combine texture, story, and material sensitivity, inviting viewers to look beyond the surface and into the fragile, intimate architectures of identity and memory. Welcome to my creative world!

About. Natalia Naletova — artist and researcher working with textile, collage & memory

Artist Statement

I work with textiles, collage, and assemblage as a way to explore memory, identity, and transformation. Fabric, thread, and found materials help me tell stories that are felt more than spoken stories that unfold through texture, layers, and quiet presence.

My process is slow and intuitive. I often begin with fragments: worn fabrics, torn paper, loose threads, and let them find their place. I’m drawn to what lies beneath: the mended, the fragile, the unresolved.

Like in kintsugi, I don’t aim to fix what’s broken; I highlight the cracks, allowing what is already here to shift and speak anew. I build not images, but inner landscapes.

My current practice moves between visual art, textile craft, and embodied memory. It echoes the themes of my book ''Textile as Language: Fabric, Body, and Memory, is an invitation to see with our hands, to feel what we carry, and to honor the invisible threads that connect us.
